Tomb Raider turns a game character into a magazine cover star

Core Design's Tomb Raider appeared in the autumn of 1996, pairing third-person exploration of three-dimensional ruins with Lara Croft. The character escaped the game almost immediately, turning up in advertising, music press and mainstream magazines.
