By reading MaticPayu you accept the terms below. They are written to be understood rather than to sound imposing, and they set out what a reader can reasonably expect from the archive and what the archive expects in return.
What you are welcome to do
- Read the archive freely. No account, payment or permission is required.
- Link to any page. Links to individual entries are encouraged and need no permission.
- Quote briefly, with attribution to MaticPayu and a link to the page you used, in reviews, articles, papers and posts.
- Use the material for study and teaching, including printing pages for a class, quoting entries in coursework, and building lessons around the timeline.
- Follow the sources listed with each entry and go to them directly. That is what they are there for.
What is not permitted
- Republishing pages or entries wholesale, on another site, in a publication or in any other product, whether or not money changes hands.
- Automated collection at scale, including bulk copying of the archive and requests heavy enough to affect the site for other readers.
- Presenting the material as your own work, or stripping attribution from it.
- Using the site's original artwork commercially, or reusing it in any form, without written permission.
- Using the archive to suggest that any company or organization endorses you, your work or your product.
If your intended use goes beyond a short quotation, please ask. Requests from teachers, students, researchers, librarians and journalists are usually straightforward. Write to contact@maticpayu.com describing what you want to use and where it will appear.
Accuracy and the nature of the record
The archive is a work of history that is corrected over time. Entries are researched, checked and reviewed, and they remain subject to revision when better documentation appears. No representation is made that every statement is complete or final. A reader who needs certainty for a legal, financial, academic or professional purpose should consult the underlying sources listed with each entry rather than relying on the summary given here.
What is not promised
The site is provided as it is. No warranty of any kind is offered about the accuracy, completeness or availability of the material, and the site may be unavailable at times. To the extent the law allows, MaticPayu is not responsible for loss or damage arising from use of the site or from reliance on anything published here. Some jurisdictions limit how far responsibility can be excluded, and nothing in these terms removes a right you have that cannot be waived.
Links to other sites
Entries and reading lists point to museums, archives, publishers and other outside sites. Those sites are not under the archive's control, their contents can change without notice, and a link is not an endorsement of anything else they publish. Once you follow a link you are subject to that site's own terms and privacy practices rather than these.
Text, artwork and trademarks
The written material on this site is original work, and the illustrations are original abstract artwork made for it. Both remain the property of MaticPayu. The site reproduces no screenshots, no box art, no characters, no company logos and no promotional imagery.
Company names, product names, console names, game titles and character names are used for identification and historical commentary only. All trademarks and registered trademarks belong to their respective owners. Their appearance here implies no association with, endorsement by or sponsorship from those owners.
Changes to these terms
These terms are revised when the site changes or when something here turns out to be unclear. The date shown at the top of the page is the last revision, and continuing to use the site after a revision means accepting the current version. Material changes, including the introduction of any outside service, will be reflected here and in the privacy policy before they take effect.
