MaticPayu is operated online. There is no public office, no visitor address and no telephone line, so email is the only way to reach the editorial team. Messages are read by a person rather than sorted by an automated system, which is also why replies are not instant.
Where to write
- corrections@maticpayu.com
- Errors of fact in any entry or page. Include the entry, the exact claim you are challenging and a source if you have one. This address is looked at first.
- contact@maticpayu.com
- Everything else: source suggestions, questions from students and teachers, permission and reuse requests, press inquiries, and offers of expertise.
Good reasons to get in touch
- You found an error, or a claim that reads as settled when the sources are actually divided.
- You know of archival material, a filing, a court record or a book that would strengthen or overturn an entry.
- You are a student or a teacher and want to know how a particular date was established, or how to use the timeline in a class.
- You want to quote or reproduce more than a short passage, or use the site's artwork, and need permission.
- You work in the press and want to check what the archive can and cannot support before citing it.
- You are a curator, archivist, researcher or industry veteran who can help with a period the surviving record covers poorly.
What to expect
No response deadline is promised, because the archive is maintained by a small team and a promise it could not keep would be worse than none at all. Corrections with a source attached are handled first. Detailed research questions can take a while. Some messages are read and acted on without receiving an individual reply, particularly when the useful outcome is a change to an entry rather than a letter back. Requests that simply cannot be answered are answered honestly rather than left hanging.
What the archive cannot help with
A history site attracts a good deal of mail it is the wrong place for. To save you the wait, these are outside what the archive can do:
- Buying, selling, valuing or appraising consoles, cartridges, discs or arcade machines. The archive is not a price guide and does not estimate what anything is worth.
- Repairing or restoring hardware, or finding parts for it.
- Technical support for any game, console, storefront, account or subscription. MaticPayu is not a support channel for any company and cannot contact one on your behalf.
- Refunds, bans, lost accounts and purchase disputes, all of which belong with the company involved.
- Requests for game files, downloads or copies of software of any kind.
- Writing or checking homework, although questions about how a particular date was established are welcome.
What happens to your message
Correspondence is used to answer you and, where a message produces a correction, to keep an internal record of why an entry changed. Email addresses are not added to any mailing list, because there is no mailing list, and they are not passed to anyone else. Please do not send sensitive personal information by email. The privacy policy describes all of this in full.
